Luke Digby — software architect, UK

Your prototype proved the idea. Now build the real thing. It works in the demo. Is it ready for real customers?

I'm a software architect. I turn prototypes that have found traction into software you can trust with real customers, real data and real payments, at a fixed price.

Your prototype proved the idea. I'm a software architect who builds the real version at a fixed price, and you own all of it.

Most recently: a US fund-technology product, from an overnight prototype to a live production demo in 26 days.

A demo isn't the same as ready.

Lovable, Cursor and Claude have made a convincing prototype a matter of days. Maybe you built it yourself over a few weekends. Maybe a freelancer built it for you. Either way, people are using it, and now it has to cope with real customers, their data and their money.

That's usually when the questions start:

  • Will it hold up when more people sign up?
  • Is customer data properly protected?
  • What happens when a payment or an integration fails?
  • Can anyone safely change it without breaking something else?

You can't judge the code yourself, and you shouldn't have to. You need an experienced engineer to look at it, tell you what's really there, and be accountable for fixing it.

Overnight prototype to live production demo in 26 days

A US fund-technology product. I took it from a prototype built overnight to a live production demo in 26 days. It connects to customers' real Microsoft 365 email and calendars, gives AI answers that show where each fact came from, and gives each customer their own isolated cloud environment, so their data is kept separate from everyone else's.

Through to acquisition

A US platform that automates the paperwork behind freight finance. I led the front-end architecture (the part customers see and use), with two engineers reporting to me, through to the company's acquisition by its largest customer.

Client names withheld under confidentiality. Happy to walk through either on a call.

How it works

Four steps. You can stop after any of them.

  1. A 30-minute call. Free.

Show me what you've built and where you want to take it. You'll come away knowing whether I can help, and what the next step would be.

  2. Production Spec. From £2,000.

Ten days working out exactly what your real version needs: architecture, risks, and a fixed-price plan to build it. If we go ahead with the build, the spec fee is credited against it.

  3. A fixed-price build.

I build it in phases, at the price agreed in the plan. If it takes me longer than I estimated, that's my cost, not yours.

  4. Ongoing support.

Once it's live, I can look after it on a monthly retainer, so there's always someone who knows the code. Entirely optional.

How I work

  • Fixed prices.

You know the cost before any work starts. The spec has a set fee, and the build is quoted from it.

  • You own everything.

The code, the repository it lives in and the cloud accounts it runs on are yours. If you ever move on, it all stays with you.

  • One person accountable.

I'm the architect, and I'm the person you deal with from the first call onwards. When something matters, you know exactly who to ask.

  • Modern tools, strict process.

I use modern AI tools inside a strict, disciplined process. They make me faster, but they don't change who's responsible.

I've been building for the web for 13 years, and for the last six I've built whole products, front end to back end (React and full-stack).

“I was most impressed by his ability to grasp exactly what it was I wanted him to do in every aspect of the project.”

5★ Upwork client · e-commerce build

“Luke is very communicative and follows through the end to ensure that the project is completed successfully.”

5★ Upwork client · web app front end

“I had more than 10 persons who turned me down for the complexity of the job but you did it in double quick time.”

Tell me what you've built

Thirty minutes, free. Tell me what you've built and what's worrying you. If I'm not the right person to help, I'll tell you, and point you somewhere better if I can.
